Maped drive won’t disconnect

I have a user that had a new drive added that is now the e: drive. There was a share maped to it and the tech didn’t disconnect the map untill after the new drive was put in. Now whenever the user logs in they recive the error that the drive letter is already in use. The have checked the box that tells it to never try to connect to that letter again and the error still comes back every time they log in. Is there any way I can keep the computer from trying to re-map the drive without removeing the physical drive?
