mapping to drives in vm server 2 on sbs

by bldsm . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I am running VM Server 2 on an SBS 2003 box. I installed OS XP Pro inside NM Server 2003. I want to connect 3 ext hard drives which are plugged into the sbs box and then connect my 4 xp home laptops to the “virtual xp pro” and use this as a file server.

The Virtual XP Pro has a workgroup called MSHOME which can see the 4 laptops and it can map to their shared drives.

BUT from a laptop I cannot map to the virtual XP PRO. It asks for a login and I have tried everything, the server name, the various admin and guest passwords.

I am wondering if the problem is that XP Home can’t log onto sbs 2003 (because its on a domain) and therefore cannot find virtual xp pro.

Can someone PLEASE help. I have spent hours on this am got no where.

Please email me at bldsm@paradise.net.nz.

Many thanks. bruce
