Matrox G400

I’m trying to install a G400 into a Pentium II 266 with a Asus P2L97-S main board which has a very early AGP ports. The computer is running Windows 2000 Pro. After installing the latest drivers and setting the resolution, I get a message to say thatWindows Explore has performed a illegal operation and will be shut down. After this when I reboot I can?t get to the “Log On” screen as the computer keeps rebooting. The only way to get back in is to uninstall the Matrox sotfware from “Safe Mode”.
Could someone please shed some light on this problem.
