The option to record video on to DVD through media centre is not available. The only option is data recording which will not play on any of my DVD players. I have upgraded the Nero software packaged with the burner provided to premium seven, as I thought this could be the problem, but it does not recognise a TV card at all, if I attempt to go this route, it tells me no compatible card can be located. Hauppauge card is on the drop down list but it will not recognise mine.
I can record to hard drive fine.
The Microsoft web site says to contact the company you bought the computer from for this problem. This is the reply I got:
“Permanent storage of tv is against copy write laws and I doubt Microsoft would support that function.
You would need a third party program to convert media center video files into mpeg2 and then burn them with nero.”
I should just be able to burn through Media centre anyway should I not? What programme are they talking about as there is nothing in help to tell me or that I can find at Microsoft. The computer was new in November and should be capable and it is Media 2005.
Help anyone please Christine
