Memory

I needed memory for an older Gateway tower. I got a quote from Gateway for the SIMM modules and it was close to $100 a stick.
So I go to PriceWatch.com and find what I think is the match for it the match has the exact speed, type, etc. This was priced at close to a tenth of the price.
One thing I thought about the expensive memory was form Kingston the other is a generic.

Is this unusual or is price watch just good at finding what you need. Does Gateway just mark up similar to COmpaq?
