Memory Error with Asus MB!!

by vtecaccord96 . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

Please help me figure this out…..
I have a new ASUS p3v4x MB and am trying to add new memory…..
I originally had 2 128mb pc 133 chips installed (Bank 0,1)and now just bought and trying to install a 256mb 133!
I originally put the 256 first (bank0)since i thought it would be best…The 256 worked byitself in slot 1……. then i installed the other two 128mb in slots 2,3 and the bios & post seen all the memory but when i used Norton to test it gave me erros within the first bank 261xxxxxxxxxx!
Now i just tried the original 2 128’s back in slots 1,2 and another 128 in slot 3, and that did not even work–error at 193xxxxxxxx! I thought maybe this last 128 was pc100 and even placed it first!! Still not working..
I just bought the 256 and 128 from tiger 1 week ago and both are marked pc133…. I installed these in slots 1,2 reversed them and still not working together!!!
I have FULLY cleaned and aired out the slots and even with a small brush 4 times! the MB is very clean and dust free already!
Individually all these chips work perfect but apparently not together…The manual for the MB says I can mix any combination of RAM from 8 to 512 in ea slot(2GB max)….it doesnt say anything about having them in pairs?? Also theBios seems to be the most up to date……Please help me with this!!!@@#@!
