memory not being “written”

by uber board . Updated 16 years, 10 months ago

I am fairly competent with computers, and by that I mean that i know how to take care of a computer and keep it running and up to date in hardware, scanners and the like. However, I have recently run into the problem:

The instruction at “0x05b20068” referenced memory at “0x05b20068”. the memory could not be “written”.

I had seen this strange memory thing before, but had dismissed because it didnt affect anything I did. Browse, bank online, game and such.

I used to have some port forwarding setups to enable hosting and all that. But i didnt need them any longer and i just reset my router. and i began to have DNS connection issues, using google chrome i will get a 105 which is a server unresolved error. Then trying to connect to my router through its hardware IP it will give a command timed out, which lead me to believe that i had a virus trying to redirect my browser. But my internet soon began connecting normally, and the nonconnectivity and related issues come up occasionally.

So next year rolls around and i go to scan for conflicker just in case. So I go to the windows online scanner, and this memory thing pops up. Then I suddenly worry terribly that it might in fact be a virus or worm of some sort. or it might just be my poor care in keeping my hard drive clean and the internet connectivity could be totally unrealated.

I’ve scanned my computer with updated scanners and only found a couple tracking cookies so im quite preplexed. And wiping my computer is currently not an option, haven’t backed up all the important files (yeah, i know, a bad decision).
