Merging 4 separate Domains into one Forest

by ozmanny . Updated 16 years ago

Hi,

I have four (4) separate domains running from four separate Windows 2003 SBS servers (single server environment in each separate office), each in different locations. CompanyA runs an ESX Server with it’s DC running from a virtual environment, with attached SAN, running SAP as well as the standard SBS add-ons (Exchange, IIS, ISA, etc).

CompanyA.local
CompanyB.local
CompanyC.local
CompanyD.local

Company A has bought the three other companies and wants them all merged under a single Forest (corp.local), but all DC still keep their Domain details.

CompanyA.corp.local
CompanyB.corp.local
CompanyC.corp.local
CompanyD.corp.local

CompanyA will be upgrading all Windows SBS boxes to Windows 2003 Standard so this can happen. So I have been asked if it is possible to rename the Forest on CompanyA to corp.local, but keep CompanyA Domain structure, or does there need to be another DC controller setup to act as the Forest which will then have the other four Domains added to it?

I have been asked to give a step-by-step, so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Emmanuel
