Microsoft Access “Path is Invalid” over SonicWall Global VPN

by gz2525 . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

Here is my scenario and problem. I appreciate any help.

I have my server (Microsoft Small Business Server 2003) setup at home and I am protected by SonicWall. I have Microsoft Access 2003 setup on all the computers for my business. Currently I have an Access database (MDB) located on my server that also contains a User Interface (MDE).

I need one of my workers to be able to access this database from home (Windows XP) so I have SonicWall Global VPN setup. Everything is working properly. She connects to the VPN, can see the database and the files needed. I had her map the network drive to the specified folder. When she tries to open the MDE file, a popup comes up and says “Path is Invalid”. Of course I thought there was a linking problem and tried linking the tables to the MDB file with no success. I can’t figure out for the life of me what to do.

My current and inefficient way to access the database is to have her use GoToMyPC to remote into a computer connected to the server’s switch and everything works.

I really need a better solution.

THANK YOU
