Microsoft exchange server 2003 not working

hi my all mates.we are using Microsoft exchange 5.5 on server 2003 windows.now the problem is when i clik on the outlook i get the error like this ” Cannot start Microsoft Ourlook.unable to open the outlook window.The set of folders could not be opened” and when i go to services and click on Microsfot Exchange Event and i clik on start the service i got this error.” The Microsoft exchange event service on local computer started and then stopped.some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example the performance logs and Alerts service.
plz suggest me a solution for this plz plz.i cant figure out this problem..
