About 1.5 years ago I bought a New PC for my wife which came with Windows Vista Home/Premium installed on it.
At Christmas 2007 Windows update stopped working all on its own. For the past 6 months On again and Off again, I have tried to get Windows Update working again. I have read all the technical articles I would find and nothing.
Windows says to download updates, but with the windows update not working, i can’t download updates. It is truely a catch 22. The program to download the updates doesn’t work, and the fixes are all to use update to download.
I managed to download the executable file for Release 2 of vista (onto a xp machine and FTP to the vista machine). I installed the release pack and that worked fine.
However, Windows update on the Vista machine is still not working.
I have attempted to re-install windows vista, with no luck what so ever…
For Micosoft’s Flagship operating System, not impressed as it has cost me countless hours of wasted time. Can anyone lend me a hand fixing Windows Vista’s Windows Update procedure.
Any articals and support help I’ve tried from Mircosoft has not worked / helped at all.
