Microsoft Windows Network icon missing – WinXP Pro

by narthur . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

In WinXP Pro with all patches, ver 5.2 with SR-2 installed – Double click on ‘my network places’, then entire network, I see only Microsoft Terminal Services and Web Client Network. Microsoft Windows Network is not there.

I can see the computer and shared drives in “entire network” from another network computer and access those files.

Mapped network drives on the affected computer have disappeared along with MWN icon. I have run spybot and adaware which found issues and removed them. I have reinstalled WinXP afterwards, but still not icon. Client for microsoft networks in Local Area Connection properties is checked. Thanks for your help.
