Good day !
I have a Roland V-Custom drumset that has options for midi ‘in’ and ‘out’. I bought a midi cable that goes from the ‘in’ and ‘out’ midi ports on the drumset to my PC512
Soundblaster MIDI /joystick port. My manual for the drumset has configuration settings that allow me to only understand that there is an ‘ON’ featuer for GM ( General MIDI ). Is it enough that I have the function ‘on’ for the drumset? I’m thinking NOT, of course…Are there some basic settings I could try on boththe soundcard and the drumset so that they at least talk to each other?
My main objective is to have my PC detecting the trigger when I play the drumset. I want to transfer the trigger information to the PC, so that I can hear it using software on the PC ( eg. I hit a snare, the info travels through the midi cable, through the sound card, processed by the software, and recorded ). I have been experimenting with a couple of MIDI software programs for the PC, but they seem to only allow me to set a channel and instrument. Is there any cheap self configuring Software that allows my PC to pick up the info from the drumset and then translate it into sound? I hope this question is not a waste of time for you guys. If you feel more points needto given for this, let me know and I’ll gladly add it !
Thanks so much for your continued support as always,
