Missing PIN on a 17″ Compaq Monitor

Can anyone tell me whether or not is it worth it to send a 17″ monitor (out of warranty), out for repair (about 2 or 3 years old), that has PIN-9 missing from it video cable. Or, for that matter if it is repairable on my own.

As it currently stands, the monitor works, but the blue background is now displaying green because of the missing pin.
