Mix Types

Ok I have two server 2003 , I justed order a new server but this server has SP1 on it, my other two servers sp1 was removed becasue of application issues on them, now my question is , do I have to up grade the other 2 servers in order for the third server to join as a domain controller, or will they comunicated with no problem
