mmc.exe generates error

When I go into update my users/groups in Computer Management, I have found that all of the users/groups don’t show the permissions in the users/groups properties. If I try to add/change any of the permissions I will get a “mmc.exe has caused an error and will be closed…” msg. Does anyone have a fix?
