Modem #2

I have a Dell laptop. In device manager and in dial up settings the modem says: 3Com v.90 PCI Modem #2. I have no idea on how this #2 got here. I uninstalled the modem and reinstalled, same thing happen. Changed a the text in the registry that pertains to this modem, still no luck. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem?
