Modem Issues

I have installed two new Action Tec V.92 56K modems. I am now able to send email and that is it and receive. When I search for a website it just freezes or kicks me off line and can’t seem to download the site. Is it possible for the V.92 to be too new of a technology for my phone line or do you think it could be a hardware setting in the system that is causing this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
