Modify network interface name

by cornejo.alvaro . Updated 23 years, 8 months ago

Hi

Is there a way to modify the name of an network interface?

for example if I run

C:\>browstat status

The results shows the interface names are shown as:

\Device\Nbf_{45390446-0C98-4C76-8321-40847AA787A3}

and if I want to verify or get the status of the specific interface I’ve to enter the whole string.

Can I modify this {45390446-0C98-4C76-8321-40847AA787A3} string or create a sort of nickname for it?

If i go to the registry on HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\adapter ID

The adapter ID is the same as I get with the browstat command.

Regards

Alvaro C.
