Monitor connection: client to server

I am having a report from a client say that momentarily (meaning a minute or 2) the offline sync message appears on her computer which is a WinXP client to a Win2003 Std Server.
It happened today and I got the time that it happened and looked at the event logs on the client and the server and didn’t see anything to give me a clue as to what is going on.

Do you know of any software that I can install that will monitor the client connection to the server and/or the network?
