monitor screen vibrates

My monitor screen is vibrating and making the text shake. It makes me dizzy to look at it. I called the service provider to see if it was a problem with the signal coming into the computer. He said it sounded like it was a problem with my monitor since it also vibrates off the internet, such as in Word. The monitor is 5 years old. Does this mean I should start looking for a new one? I’ve never come across this problem before.
