moving disk array

scenario:
we have a disk array attached to a compaq 5500 server. this server has been crasing intermittently and i need to take it offline. this machine is our file server and obviously all the files/shares reside on the disk array. i need to movethe disk array to another machine.

the machine i need to move the disk array to is Compaq 3000. both machines have Smart-2DH Controller.

questions:
what issues do i need to consider at the hardware level?

what issues are involved at NT level (shares, permissions, etc). the files are on NTFS.

your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
