MP2 6.1 SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

by gabe07 . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

I need to upgrade an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application using a MS Access database to MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The upgrade and data conversion has already been tested on a stand alone computer and everything is “Go”.

However, there is concern by some stakeholders about installing and running the application database using SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on the same server or even the sam Local Area Network with other critical business applications that still uses MS SQL Server 2000.

The EAM users do not use the other business applications and there is no integration existing between the systems. Migrating all business systems up to MS SQL Server 2005 or migrating the EAM application to MS SQL Server 2000 are cost considerations that cannot be entertained at this time.

I believe the both databases and applications can run safely on the LAN. Can you give me some information that will reinforce my position.
