MS office on a server

It seems like several years ago I heard about MS having office on a server and users “checked a license out” when they used a MS office application. So if a company had 10 license on the server 10 users could use the applications at a time. When they logged off another user could use the license. I can’t find anything like this now. Did or does this exist? Thanks, Stuart
