MS Proxy and Unix

I have a unix(AIX) server on private IP behind a dual-nic ms proxy server that needs to send print jobs to a public IP jet-direct card. Also need to telnet through proxy with windows pc w/o using the MSP Client. In both cases, it appears the proxydoes not proxy. LAT checks ok. Ideas?
