MSHTML.DLL & KERNEL.DLL ERRORS

I’m supporting a user who is running Windows ME. While using Internet Explorer 5.5 he is constantly running into MSHTML.DLL errors which forces him to close the browser and re-start Internet Explorer. He will surf a while and then a KERNEL32.DLL error will pop up. I have tried repairing Internet Explorer via the Add/Remove Programs screen and I have tried re-installing Internet Explorer 5.5, all to no avail. Can somebody please help me?
