I have a Windows 2003 server running Terminal Services the services both local and remote access.
Remote Access consists of a Linux server doing one to one NAT (1 public IP address NATed to 1 private IP address)
The server is multi-homed because two separate firewalls are being used. The internal firewall prevents any traffic from the student lab getting out to the corporate LAN and the external firewall is to prevent any traffic getting out from the lab to the internet. This, of course, does NOT include responses to legitimate requests.
My question follows: when I execute and ifconfig from the cmd prompt I do NOT see the default gateway on one of the interfaces. Opening the properties of each interface confirms each has a different default gateway (one for internal and one for external). Why would this happen? Load balancing is not enabled.
My concern is that only one interface is responding to all requests. I have seen similar problems with Microsoft Message Queue. I am experiencing hard to isolate errors on the network.
Any thoughts or notions?
