I have one server in a small WAN enviroment giving me a headache! Actually, it was far worse that it is now, but here is my problem. I have a server with two NICs. One connected to the internal network, and one to a router for our ISP. For some reason DNS shows this server with five different IPs. The IP’s are 192.168.184.1(the proper IP), 209.242.62.135,(which is the external NIC), 192.168.183.249(which is a different subnet connected to via a VPN), and 192.168.185.245(which is a different subnet connected to via a VPN)and finally 192.168.184.250, which is on its own subnet.
Everything was working fine, until we changed both NIC’s on the server. I think I have looked over the properties of both NICs, but cant find my problem. On the external NIC I have the ‘register this connection with DNS’ unchecked which I thought was the problem, but it made no difference.
Also I can clean out the incorrect DNS errors, and everything will be fine, but if I reboot any of the servers on the network it will create the bad entries.
Any help would be great…….
