Multiple maps pointing to same shared folder

Hi, I have a network with 2 new IBM think centers, WXPP, Connected via dlink DI-604 Router. One of the desktops acts like a server, the other one has 1 mapped drive to 1 shared folder on my server. As time goes on more maps are created to the same share. I can access the information from those maps.

I can disconnect them but they will return???????
All updates are on the system, I am using Norton Internet security 2006. Firewall is configured for trusted network using ranged address.
Can anyone help out. Oh the router is also new. So are the cables, not home made.
