Multiple user login logger

by danser01 . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

Hey All,

We have a stand alone shared computer that has a generic logon that multiple employees use. Due to large volume of users it would not be practicle to have individual logins for this machine.

Currently, if a User wants to use the machine, they write their name on a bit of paper next to the computer so we have a very basic way of tracking ‘who did what and when’ if there are any issues. Obviously this is not a great way to track usage and is hard to police.

We are looking for a piece of software that would ideally prompt a user for their name when they log in using the generic login account. This name would be stored in a text file or similar next to date and time.If we ever needed to find out who was using the PC at a certain date/time we could look through the text file.

Any ideas of software that would do this? We don’t need key logging or anything like that – just a prompt for user’s name and timings they used it from/to.

Thanks.
