My Acer Aspire 5100 has a wacky internet connection

My computer has always had a lousy connection, but I’ve dealt with it. However yesterday, after Verizon FiOS was installed, it became completely unusable.

The Internet connection on my Aspire 5100 is constantly dropping off. It will stay connected for about 20 seconds or so, then it will dissipate and restart a few moments later. When it is up, the connection quality is very poor.

The Network adapter is an Atharos AR5007EG. It appears that the drivers are up to date, though I’ve been wrong before…

Some help would definitely be appreciated. I’m a little worried that the prolonged streams of profanity I’ve been shouting at it are going to make it kill itself. 🙁
