My computer gets freezed

I am using a DELL dimension 3000 with WinXP. My computer often gets freezed while I am using the internet and I have to power it down and bring it up and it works normally again. Any one has a clue why it gets freezed often? Please ask me question about my system because I do not know where to start. Thanks in advance.
