My connection to internet is dead! Win98

by philthegreat . Updated 25 years, 7 months ago

After a crash, my Chinese windows 98 cannot connect to internet through my broadband.
1) I can ping the ISP with ip address; but cannot ping with hostname. (When I dial the connection with the broadband software make no error responses. It seems towork well; but the browser cannot find the connections.) IE and Communicator are both not working. IE returns “cannot find the server” “The page cannot be displayed.”
2) My dail-up or modem cannot work.
3) I have followed the instructions of the support and re-install the tcp/ip, network card (3Com905B-TX)(for my broadband);
4) I have re-set up the win98 with a boot-up disk and re-install the win98; but I cannot fix the problem.
5) I have searched the knowledge base of Microsoft on that; but none of them fix my problems.
6) I hope to find a way to fix the problem without formatting the disk and re-install all the software again.
