Having NDPS printing problems with a couple Win2k PCs. Under the Control Panel’s Printers window, All NDPS printers are shown as “Status: Printer not found on server, unable to connect”. Double clicking on the printer brings up a window that shows an empty queue with the printer name and “Failed to open, retrying” in the title bar. When I try to open the printer’s properties window, I get the error: “Printer properties cannot be displayed. Operation could not be completed.”
I have deleted all the printers (Including registry entries and driver files) and NDPS reinstalls them all without error. I uninstalled the Novell client and installed again, same results except the printer status now says “Status: Not Available”.
I tried deleting and reinstalling the printers from Novell Print Manager and it errors out on the install with Message number: 160 and Error Code: 0x0100000A : 1801 saying that the NDPS Print Manager wasn’t running, but it is and other people can print to these printers fine thru NDPS.
I am able to install a TCP/IP printer and print directly to the printer bypassing NDPS from these Win2k PCs. It’s my only work around at the moment. My guess is that some file got corrupt or some setting in the registry is doing it. Possible Network setting cause I believe Win2k is having a problem opening an NDPS port. I have no idea how to fix this.
This has happened to a total of three different Win2k PC on my network so far, all other PC (Win98 and Win2k) are working fine.
