I’ve been a long time reader here, but never posted. Hopefully someone here can help me out.
I’ve got a customer in need of a router for a new WiFi WAN that they’re implementing. There are two buildings in different subnets that will be connected via 802.11g. The customer already purchased this kit and has asked us to install it…so I don’t have much control over the WiFi solution.
Anyway, this thing includes two WAP/routers. Once has to be in bridged mode to connect to the other and can no longer route. On LAN1 a Cisco 2621 router that is managed by the ISP is the default gateway…so I can’t use an ETH port on there, but I can add routes. On LAN2, I have a PIX501 as the default
I’m thinking of putting WAP/Router in LAN1 and adding a route to LAN2 in the 2621 via the WAP/Router. Then putting the WAP/Bridge in LAN2 and buying a new router.
The WiFi link is >10MB, so I’ll need two 10/100 Eth ports. I don’t want to use some POS Linksys/DLink/etc broadband router. I’m not sure of any entry-level (read: low price) Cisco devices that has two 10/100 eth ports. something link the old 1600 series woud be cool. What would you all recommend for this project?
