Need advice for home network

by david.weber77 . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

Ok here is the deal. I will be moving in to a new place with my significant other. I run a windows desktop (boo on me) and she has a MacbookPro. What I need to figure out is this.

I want her to be completely wireless no matter where she goes in the new place and have access to her music and anything else she may need. We both currently own a Seagate External 500Gb drive with USB connectors. I have no problem leaving mine on my desktop as I will not be traversing the house. But I would rather have hers connected to the router if at all possible so my desktop does not need to be on all the time for her to access her files or music. I obviously do not need a NAS device (unless there are ones that do not act as backup or file servers) as we already have the storage space we will need to use for her files. But what routers and/or other devices should we look at to make this possible?

Any and all advice is welcome on this even down to set up if you want to go that far.

Thanks in advance.
