Now before I go into the whole problem I believe the issue to be a failed power supply.
I have a compac Presario that was purchased right around Christmas. I immediatly took out the under powered power supply(280watt)and replaced it will and an Antec 450 watt. Pc has been running fine since about 4-5 days ago. I went to print something on the epson printer, when I turned the printer on it kept on turning itself off after about 10-20 seconds of being powered on (it connects to the pc with USB 2.0. I thought my printer was crap cursed at it several times and figured I would have to buy another one. I then powered down the pc for the night. The next day I hit the power button and the only thing that happens is the power/HD light blinks when you let go of the power button it stops. I completely disconnected everything from the computer moved into a different room hooked it up to a different power strip, and then only hooked up the Monitor, keyboard and mouse. This time the computer booted up with no issues/no errors did not even go into safe mode. I ran virus/spyware scans and came back empty handed. Oh and as a side note with the printer disconnected from the computer I powered it on and it did NOT power it self off at all. I turned the computer off for the night. The next day I get the same problem again absolutly nothing happens when i hit the power on button except the power/HD blinks at me until I let go of the power switch. Again I believe the problem is the power supply, considering that if it was having power fluctuations to the pc, the pc is smart enough to shut other things down to reduce power draw ie the USB ports, such as the one the printer was hooked into. Now the power supply (the Antec) I used to replace the underpowered stock PS was at least several years old when it was put into this pc.
Please give me a confirmation and sorry this was long winded.
