Need Some Pointers With Windows Server 2003

by jlmarble . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

I need some guidance here and a few pointers. I have an idea of what I want to do with my server, but I don’t know how to do it.

I want to do the following:

I want to define a group of computers.
Then I want to define a group of users.
The group of users would be assigned to a particular group or groups of computers.
Each user would be able to login to any computer of a group that is assigned to that user’s group.
No matter which computer they are allowed to log into, their user settings, and files would come with them. And depending on their permissions, they could use the programs they are assigned to on the computer.
Then, at a set time, when no users are using the computers, the hard drives are wiped clean so each computer is at it’s optimal level for the next work day 🙂

I know this is possible. But I don’t know how to set it up.

I’ve been told that in addition to my Windows Server 2003, I will need a Domain Controller with LDAP, and a Terminal Services Controller, which could be very costly.

Please help.
