need to create a 48 port-switch diagram?

I have just started at a small company and been tasked with noting the ports everyone is using and tidying up the cable cupboard as well as documenting this. The company will not shell out for Visio and I need to create a diagram of the setup, whilst also learning how to map all ports……..any help greatly recieved. Thanks in advance everyone
