A user came with a VMM32.vxd error this morning. I went ahead and reinstalled W98 in the interest of saving time.
But the problem still exists. The first time she booted there was no error message, but it would not let her log on to the network. The network settings look fine.
Now at start up the following messages occcur:
“Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application.
The Win registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.
If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application.
If you still want to use the application associated with the device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD\ENABLE.VXD
Press a key to continue”
I do not know what this file refers to or how to fix this problem. I need some help…
Thank you,

PS – no major changes made this morning but a virus file deleted (sulfnbk.exe) before it caused any damage.
