netware 5.1 lockup after norton 8 inst.

I was asked to upgrade the existing norton 7.1 corperate server scanner to a netware 5.1 server. After the installation completed the server froze during boot up. Booted up using the -na switch on the server command and got into the autoexec and remarked out all questionable programs. Got it back online and installed the nw51sp5 patch to the server. This fixed the server and I got it back online and unremarked the former programs from the autoexec except the Norton files.
The question I have is has anyone had any similar experiences with this and is it safe to unremark the files in the autoexec? I feel that the problem may have laid in the need to upgrade to sp5 for the server. But wanted to see if anyone else has any imput.
