Netware 6.0 and Office Xp

We just put up a Netware 6.0 server and when the users go to file -open and browse to K:\data which is sys1 it is very slow. It only seems to be happening with the Microsoft office suite. The users are running the novell client 4.83sp1 ,Win2k sp3 and office xp sp2. The funny thing is when you go threw windows explorer it is ok. It only happens when you hit file open on excel. Any help would be great
