network access problem in windows xp

by gffox32 . Updated 24 years, 5 months ago

I have a simple 2 computer peer to peer home network.both running win xp. The problem I have is a security problem. I set up computer one so it will let me access shared folders and printers without the need for a user name and pass word (anonymous user). When I came to set up the second machine I set up local security the same way as computer one, but this computer refuses to let me in without me having an account on it with a user name and password. It is set up to allow anomynous user but itstill refuses to let me in unless I have an account on it with a user name and password. I can’t understand why 2 computers set up the same are behaving differently. Computer one has two network cards one for the network and one for the internet, but this is the only difference.
I would rahter have the computers just start up without the need for a log on proceedure and still use my lan, As computer one currently does can any shine any light on this problem please!!!!! the Hair on my head is rapidly depleating!!!!!
