network card does not receive packets

I have two machines which have 3 com cards and also different cards already installed in different instances but then they do not receive packets.They are connected to a CNET hub and testing the hub in another network with different cards the cards can send and receive.I took the cards form that Network used them on my PCs and they only send.How can i solve this it is jus a network of 3 PCs running XP and 2000 pro the motherboards are INTEL.
