All: I am trying to set up a little network with a Verizon 5750 card as the broadband internet connection. The set up is:
Verizon 5750 card in Dell C810 (works OK in laptop,)WinXP SP2.
Out from Laptop to 3Com dongle to LAN Cable to Netgear WTG624 wireless Router
Out from Router to peripheral machine(s)
The Network connections set by WinXP Wizard are:
1. National Access/Broadband Access (the card, working OK)
2. Local Area connection 2 Pantech PC Card WWAN Controller, RedX on icon says: Network Cable Unplugged.
3. Local Area Connection 3 – 3Com Megahertz 10/100 CardBus PC Card #2 – (This device has been connected and working OK)
4. Network Bridge, connected
I have at one point bridged 2&3, however 2 was never connected (according to WinXP) so it never worked anyway.
Question:
Why does Connection #2 say network cable unplugged when the Gateway is a PC Card?
Is WinXP expecting a LAN Cable into the Laptop and confused by the card?
How to make the laptop realize that the card is NOT a cable input?
Verizon support says they can’t help, which makes sense since they probably just want you to buy another card.
Any Solutions or tricks to get WinXP to configure this card? I have tried lots of settings like full duplex etc…
