Network Nightmares

by nevg . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

I have been asked by small PC Company to assist one of their clients with network problems. Apparently a virus caused their 16Gb Internet CAP usage to be exceeded in a few days. The virus was delt with. Unfortunately I have inherited a legacy problem where there was no documentation regaridng IP addresses, Domain Names or router configurations. After much , phone calls (money), client visits (money) and, network configurations I still have the same problem. To connect to the Internet and recieve emails I have to connect the server directly to the router (Netgear). To allow the workstations to see the server and network, I have to disconnect the server from the router and connect to the LAN. (no more internet or email). Network is Windows XP Pro.

Any suggestions.
