Network Permission problems

Hi all,

Happy Holidays! I’m networking a friend as a favor, and having trouble. Here’s the scenario.

1) 2 new XP Pro PCs-need all permissions, no problem.
2) 1 new XP Home Internet PC, 3 others have Internet sharing on dialup (ugh!), no problem.
3) PROBLEM: 1 old 98 PC that keeps losing network connectivity. We want email-no internet, access to only 3 Word/Excel files and 1 program each on the 2 new XP Pro PCs. Any other file or program on any other pc is off limits. This guy needs severe rights restricting!

Any ideas out there or places to get definitive answers and directions would be greatly appreciated at this point.
