Network Printer Offline

I have a HP LaserJet 5M connected to the network via RJ-45. For some reason it will go offline at random. Only done it twice since Nov. 2004 (when I started). All 21 Windows 2000 Pro. workstations say it is offline, but the printer itself says “Ready” which I would assume means Online. I have had the printer reset its I/O settings, reboot, reseat ethernet cable but all to no resolution. Any other ideas out there?
