network problems on XP Orofessional

I can see the other computors in my home workgroup but when ai try to access them I get a message “You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.” I amnot using a server I am peer to peer on a home network. My Ip’s are correct all the same submask and workgroup name with all unique names. Is there someplace to set up permissions other than sharing a drive? Am I using “Professional” for something not intended.
