My supervisor has tasked me with finding software that will allow us to inventory our workstations and servers.
Required:
-no client install (client install acceptable for 98 machines)
-98/2000/XP/Server 2000/NT/Server 2003
-inventory collection of all installed software
-canned reports that display summary information on all applications installed, specific applications with related workstation & all applications installed on a specific workstation (not via report/query builders)
-ability to audit specific subnets or IP address ranges.
-intuitive interface (yes, hard to quantify)
-cost less than 5k for 600 workstation/server nodes.
-software license management/reporting
Desired:
-hardware inventory and similar reporting functions
-detection and scanning of network devices and printers
-ability to schedule audits
-integration with help desk package
-application blacklisting & notification
I have looked at a number of packages and so far, few really meet the basic requirements. So far LOGINventory is looking like a good fit.
Is anyone currently using anything that would meet the basic requirements and what are your impressions?
